what is robotics?

Robots are able to perform some tasks more efficiently than humans as well as tasks that humans are unable to do.

But, they are only helpful if they are constructed and programmed correctly. As coders, we can work with robots by writing the code that instructs them to carry out specific tasks which in turn allows the robot to carry out tasks independently and continually adapt, based on the outcome of the previous task.

Robotics involves a combination of several fields, and sits in the intersection between Computer Science, Engineering (both mechanical and electrical), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

why learn robotics?

For years, coding has been a valuable skill to possess. However, as we move further into the digital era, having an understanding of programming and algorithmic thinking is essential.

Robotics has established itself as a new branch in this sector, which also involves the application of every aspect of STEAM education. STEAM education allows students to progress as pioneers for the future with original approaches to solving modern day problems.

The Robotic arm

You will be working with a multi-functional industrially-used Robotic Arm. This Robotic Arm is used in higher educational institutes and universities all around the world to promote the concepts and fields of:

  • Robotics

  • Engineering

  • Machine Learning

  • Artificial Intelligence

Our Robotic Courses have been structures such that our students are able to learn about the fields of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence in a user friendly way.

The concepts have been decomposed into concise projects which incorporate informative diagrams, algorithmic design and problem solving on paper, and a hands-on, practical experience.

Students will build an understanding of spatial awareness and the Robotic Arm's virtual boundaries/limits while working in the  X,Y and Z planes.

Through the progression of our courses, our students will also have the opportunity to write programs in a block-based language and in the Python programming language to control the Robotic Arm.

This will allow them to gain an insight into large scale robotic operations and to design and implement their own algorithms in order to solve real-world problems.

Our Robotics Lab provides the ideal environment for students to enhance their skills in all of these subjects in a fun, engaging and hands-on manner. It promotes inquisitive thinking, pushing them to explore different avenues of robotics.

Robotic AI and predictive analysis can be used to create/generate original designs and to fill in the gaps in existing artwork with the 'most probable' elements in an authentic way.

This video shows the work of one of our Year 7 students. The project entailed searching for specific letters and positioning them in the correct sequence to display two words (DISCOG and CODING). After arranging  the letters correctly, the algorithm was designed to place the letters back to their original positions in order to repeat the process continuously.
