Learn to Code

Code to learn

We teach children of all ages to code!

Coding

Why should our kids learn to code?

"In the digital age, computer science is a foundational skill vital for every student to learn.

It's a skill that applies to many different subjects, including math, science, art and music."

– Hal Speed (Head of North America at the Micro:bit Foundation)

Why should our kids learn to code?

"Everybody should learn to program a computer, because it teaches you how to think."

"Simple can be harder than complex; you have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple."

– Steve Jobs

Our   4C's   of Coding

01

Creativity

Coding is an important skill that can be applied to any field because computers are everywhere! Do you want to be a designer? A doctor? An author?

Literacy in coding is an advantage in every industry in this technology-driven economy.

03

Computational thinking

Computational thinking is the thought process involved in breaking down a problem, recognising key patterns and expressing solutions to the problem in such a way that a computer can effectively carry out a series of instructions.

02

Critical thinking

Critical thinking is an essential part of creativity and logic because we need critical thinking to evaluate and improve our ideas.

For a coder, it is essential that you know how to make use of information to solve problems.

04

Collaboration

Boys at School

There are many benefits to collaboration! Our students work together, utilising their individual strengths while improving their knowledge and skill set at the same time. The more minds that come together, the more our coders are able to grow.

Benefits
of studying coding

Unlock your potential and discover new opportunities by developing a range of fundamental, transferrable skills that can be applied to all kinds of subjects and careers.

What is programming and
why is it important?

Programming is the art of writing an ordered set of steps that are able to command a computer to solve a problem or perform a task. We are living in a world dominated by technology. Understanding hardware and software is now as important as reading and writing.

Learning to program a computer is the same as learning to read and write in a new language. It requires the continual progressing of learning and lots of practice! Here at DiscoG, we offer tuition and support to children as young as 6 years old.

How can we help?

At DiscoG, we offer a structured yet flexible hands-on approach to learning.

Using the Raspberry Pi (a credit card-sized computer), students can develop an understanding of coding and design in a fun and engaging environment. Students are taught in small groups with children of a similar age and are encouraged to learn at their own pace, collaborate & share their ideas with their fellow students whilst utilising their individual strengths.

Through the progression of our programmes, our students will cultivate skills such as applying logical and analytical thinking as well as problem solving which, in this modern world is highly imperative. Learning to code can be quite intimidating at first, but like anything, it's not necessarily about having a high IQ, all your child needs to get started is enthusiasm and a willingness to discover and create something new.

Robotics, AI,
& electronics

Our courses in Robotics, AI, and electronics help to solidify the computational thinking concepts in our core coding classes, while introducing students to new technologies and emerging fields.

These courses use industrial robotics equipment that are used in the real-world to solve problems, and by university students across the globe.
