Coding is an important skill that can be applied to any field because computers are everywhere! Do you want to be a designer? A doctor? An author? Literacy in coding is an advantage in every industry in this technology-driven economy.

Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is an essential part of creativity and logic because we need critical thinking to evaluate and improve our ideas. For a coder, it is essential that you know how to make use of information to solve problems.

Computational Thinking

Computational thinking is the thought process involved in breaking down a problem, recognising key patterns and expressing solutions to the problem in such a way that a computer can effectively carry out a series of instructions.

What is programming & why is it important?

Programming is the art of writing an ordered set of steps that are able to command a computer to solve a problem or perform a task. We are living in a world dominated by technology. Understanding hardware and software is now as important as reading and writing.

Learning to program a computer is the same as learning to read and write in a new language. It requires the continual progression of learning and a lot of practice! Here at DiscoG we offer tuition and support to children as young as 6 years old.

How can we help?

At DiscoG, we offer a structured yet flexible hands-on approach to learning. Using the Raspberry Pi (a credit card-sized computer), students can develop an understanding of coding and design in a fun and engaging environment. Students are taught in small groups with children of a similar age and are encouraged to learn at their own pace, collaborate & share their ideas with their fellow students whilst utilising their individual strengths.

 

Through the progression of our programmes, our students will cultivate skills such as applying logical and analytical thinking as well as problem solving which, in this modern world is highly imperative. Learning to code can be quite intimidating at first, but like anything, it's not necessarily about having a high IQ, all your child needs to get started is enthusiasm and a willingness to discover and create something new.
